Brown Boat Co. |
The Brown Boat Co. was founded in 1887 by J.G. Brown who had been the T. Gordon’s foreman for many years. According to the Peterborough County Museum Archives, this company stayed in business till 1938. Even though Heirloom Canoes has only come across a few of these canoes, they seem to indicate that the builder was always trying new things while always building a beautiful craft. 
JG Brown’s great great grandson recently purchased a Brown Boat Co. decked cruiser from Heirloom Canoes and was kind enough to share a copy of an original Brown pamphlet. We hope to post a copy of this shortly. |
